From October 2008 examination marks for individual questions will not be provided.
After the 31st December 2008 the Faculty is no longer able to supply past examination papers.
IMPORTANT REMINDER: Final AFOM Exam, January 2010
January 2010 was the final opportunity to sit the AFOM examination.
Candidates in specialist training:
As outlined in April 2008 (Question and Answer sheet 3: Changes to Faculty Examinations), trainees in an approved higher specialist training post or programme who have not passed the AFOM before September 2010, or have only passed certain elements of it, will be required to take the Part 2 MFOM examination instead from September 2010 (Membership regulation M50). This will involve a change in assessment methods but not a change in syllabus.
Candidates not in specialist training:
Candidates outwith specialist training are reminded that there will be no opportunity to retake the AFOM examination after the January 2010 sitting. As announced in April 2008, the AFOM has been withdrawn as a stand-alone qualification.
Under the revised MFOM Regulations 2008 it will be possible for non-specialists to submit for Membership. To do so they will normally need to pass the three central elements of examination (Part 1 and Part 2 MFOM, dissertation) and demonstrate equivalent competencies to those of UK specialists (for further details please see the regulations using the link above).
