- required for appointment as a hospital consultant
- Membership of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine can only be awarded once Higher Specialist Training (HST) is complete, the Associateship of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine (AFOM) examination passed and the dissertation component accepted.

Many holders of the MFOM have given permission for abstracts of their dissertations to be included in this site's library. The abstracts may be found by searching using keywords and/or document type 'dissertation abstracts'.
Dissertation Training Day 2010
The Faculty of Occupational Medicine hosted a Dissertation Training Day in January, 2010. The day was aimed at trainees and their trainers.
