Training Handbooks for Occupational Medicine
The PMETB has now merged with the GMC. In documents written before the merger, please read GMC for PMETB.
On 1 August 2007 arrangements for higher specialist training in Occupational Medicine in the UK changed, following implementation of a new curriculum and assessment framework and a revision to generic Department of Health guidelines on training.
For a limited period the new and old systems will run in parallel, giving rise to two versions of the Training Handbook (supported by two versions of the Department of Health Guidelines - the Orange and Gold Guides - with one overarching set of MFOM regulations).
Old Curriculum Trainees
For trainees in post on 31 July 2007, the relevant guidance appears in the revised Specialist Training Handbook, 3rd Edition, April 2008.
New Curriculum Trainees
For trainees appointed from 1 August 2007, the relevant guidance appears in the Specialty Training Handbook 4th Edition, April 2008.
The Regulations for the Award of Membership include separate sections for old and new curriculum trainees. The regulations in full will be included in both the 3rd and 4th editions of the Handbook when complete.
